Leo Tolstoy said the one "haunting question" that every person asks is this, "Which way to live is best?"

Proverbs talks about the "fool" as one rushing around, heaping up wealth, not knowing who's it will be in the end.

We don't want to spend our precious time doing something that won't matter in the end. We see too many people who are building sandcastles close to the shore at low tide. It might look like progress, but inevitably, all the effort will prove to be for nothing.

So the question remains. What can I do that will last, long after I'm gone?

So my mind turns to my children. To the next generation. It's true that the time and attention given to them now, we may never see much of the results from -- but what better investment could we make?

'So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. '

Matthew 7:12

This is my favorite picture of Levi right now because you can't see the rest of his accidental mullet.

So my focus ought to be less on what I think I want right now, and more on what will provide true progress for generations to come.

The work we are doing in Kenya goes far beyond clean water. Clean water is the beginning. Partnering with our friends for housing, food and business development are all means to an end.

Living water is the end we're after.
