When Plans Don't Go To Plan

2025 In Images

This year we had clear goals and a clear plan on what we'd set out to accomplish. Things did not go to plan. In retrospect, they almost never do. God seems to have this habit of interrupting our ideas with initiatives of his own. At this point, I'm not only accustomed to it, I expect it. I welcome it. I count on it.

I find myself returning to a quote that's often that's attributed to Dwight D. Eisenhower, "In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable." Or said in King Solomon vernacular, "The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord."

Our plans didn't go to plan, but we were working hard and watching for what God was doing so we could partner with Him and His plan. And thanks to you and your support, some beautiful things took place. And for that, I'm grateful.

Here's a snapshot of what we did together in 2025.

This dude was ready for his moment ☝️

Goal: Build 10 houses

Reality: We partnered with House for a Home and provided clean water with each of the dozens of houses built [which we will continue]

Goal: Plant 10 new churches

Reality: We dug wells in India that launched churches with them, we started missional gatherings in Sweden, and we partnered with friends who are starting and multiplying house churches in the US and Ahero Kenya in a fantastic way.

Goal: Start a Missions Incubator Cohort to develop mission projects

Reality: God brought a team and a vision for an app to help missionaries tell better stories and raise more money (more on this coming soon!)

Goal: 1,000 families getting access to clean water

Reality: 2,000 families were given access to clean water

Here's what we did together:

  • 2,000 Families with Access to Clean Water
  • 7m Liters of Water Generated Per Year
  • 19,000 Liters of Water Generated Each Day

This year, God kept opening the doors for using clean water as a way to bring more people to the Living Water that Jesus provides.

So we doubled down.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Focus for 2026:

Major Goal - 3,000 Families (15,000 people) with access to clean water

How - $100 Provides clean water for an entire family

Just incase you're interested in how all this happened and the way God wove things together, I recorded the whole story (with plenty of pictures of course) Enjoy!

One last planning quote for you that I'm fond of as you're planning out your 2026, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." - Mike Tyson
